My new rug doesn't fit......

I bought a new braided rug. A 2'x8' runner for my hallway and it's too long. So, I thought about it for awhile and decided to perform a rugectomy, and the results were successful.

The procedure:

Resize the rug, so I end up with a 2'x6' rug and as a bonus, a 2'x2' rug. Sweet!
To begin, I had to do some thread ripping.....

and some cutting.

Here's what I ended up with. So far so good :).

Next, pull out all the loose threads.....

and finally, sew the raw edges where I cut, with a zigzag stitch.

The Results:

Two rugs that fit perfectly. Yay!
