For those sun parched lips. I love making my own skin care products, and this lip balm is easy peasy and it works. Keeps your lips soft and supple, that is if you can resist licking it off. It tastes yummy! Here's the how to:
Orange Honey Lip Balm
- 2 tsp. beeswax, grated or pellets
- 7 tsp. sweet almond oil
- 1 tsp. honey
- 5 drops orange essential oil or whatever you like, Such as peppermint, spearmint, grapefruit, lime. You can even mix them up.
- Three 1/2 ounce size tins
- small saucepan, measuring spoons, grater, labels or stickers
Melt the beeswax and oil in small saucepan over low heat, until beeswax is melted.
Remove pan from heat. Add the honey and mix thoroughly.
The mixture cools fast, but make sure you incorporate the honey very well to prevent separation.
Stir in your essential oil. The mixture should be a soft paste now.
Place a teaspoon of the balm into each container. Tap the container on your work surface to disperse the balm evenly in the tin.
Pop on your lid and decorate with a label or pretty sticker. Enjoy!
Yields: 1 1/2 ounces
I bought my tins at this etsy shop, Blue Starlight Enterprises. Pin It

Great idea Deb!...I'd ask you to make me some to take out on the road with me, but there's no flavor on planet earth that compares with your sweetness!.....Danny

I'm dying to try this! It looks wonderful. Just wondering where you got your tins? I've been looking everywhere and can't seem to find them that small.
Hi Regina =)
At the end of the post is a link to Blue Starlight Enterprises. The tins I used are listed under craft tins on their site. You can buy them in sets of 6, 12, or 50.
You can also purchase them from Mountain Rose Herbs. Here's the link,http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/supply/tins.html.
Hope this helps.

I am completely obsessed with lip balm making now! I love it! this is so smooth and stays on the lips well! one question I have is that a lot if balm recipes I have seen contain cocoa butter, and I was wonderin if you knew what would be a good household substitute for it as I don't have any and don't fancy ordering it offline? thanks x E.L
